Practical Steps You Can Take:
Here is a list of things that might help prepare you for this work. You do NOT need to have these items accomplished before you apply or go with Frontiers, but they will be helpful in your preparation for the field.
- Know your God so well that you will display strength and take action. (Daniel 11:32)
- Abide in Christ, the true vine and only source of power (John 15:1-6).
- Make friends among Muslims where you are.
- Develop strong roots in your local church. Share vision and pray with leaders, pastors, elders or other mentors in your life.

Read all the books you can on Islam and sharing your heart with Muslims. Check out our Resources reading lists or read some of the following:
- Phil Parshall’s writings
- Biographies of others who have lived and worked among Muslims
- Books on animism
- Travel guides
- Histories of Muslim countries
- The Qu’ran
- Take a Perspectives on the World Christian Movement or Worldwide Perspectives course to enhance your knowledge about God’s global plan.
- Coordinate a Perspectives course to help others catch the vision.

Take courses on Islam. Include summer training in sharing your faith with others.
- Read the book or take the course Encountering the World of Islam.
- Go on short–term trips or vision trips to the Muslim world.
- Complete Frontiers’ The Journey. It will help build vision and relationship.

Explore God’s will for your life’s purpose.
- Experiencing God
- What am I more committed to: my job, my ministry?
- What has God really given me a passion for?
- Where is my ZEST?
- Discover your gifts, motivation and skills, and work through them in relation to service to Muslims.
- Ask, “How can my gifts and skills contribute to an overseas team taking the Gospel to Muslims?”
- Learn as much application of Scripture as possible.
- Get counseling for the “issues” in your life.
