GAP Teams
“I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it…” (Ezekiel 22:30)
What are GAP Teams?
At Frontiers, we believe that sending long-term (as long as it takes) teams to Muslims in their homelands is the best way to invite them into the blessings of Jesus. At certain times in history, regions that were previously very closed to the presence of outsiders suddenly open up. Since it takes considerable time to get long-term teams mobilized, GAP Teams are sent out, not wanting to miss any of the God-ordained windows of opportunity.
Serving for 7-13 months, GAP Teams “stand in the gap” until a long-term team is formed, delivering much needed assistance to people in crisis and taking part in shaping the destiny of an entire nation. GAP Teams engage their community through relief and development, laying the foundation for future Jesus-communities through good works.
Who qualifies for a GAP Team?
If you are a flexible, humble learner who has a growing passion to see God glorified and Muslims experience Jesus' love, you may be just the person for one of these challenging assignments to the frontiers of the world. We look for mature, emotionally stable adults, at least 21 years old, who demonstrate the intellectual discipline of someone at the college level.
On the field, you will serve your community in practical ways in cooperation with an established relief and development organization. Typical projects can include refugee relief, ESL education, water sanitation, and health care training. Education and experience in one of these fields would be helpful, but are NOT required. Singles, married couples and families are all encouraged to apply.
What training and coaching are provided?
With the help of resources and coaching that Frontiers offers, you will raise financial support for your training, living and travel expenses. Prior to your departure for the field, Frontiers will provide you with 6 weeks of training that will equip you for greater spiritual growth,team-building, language learning, cultural adaptation, and relief and development operations.
Together with your team led by a team leader, you will “learn the ropes” of team life, emerging Jesus-communities, and relief work as you pioneer into unreached areas. You will gain wisdom from the experiences of previous GAP Teams and long–term workers. Frontiers will provide support services while you are on the field and debriefing at the conclusion of your term.
Be ruined for the ordinary! Leave the comforts and “security” of life in the Western world to deliver much-needed assistance to people in crisis and help shape the destiny of an entire nation. Gain real ministry and work experience among Muslims to see if this could be the life God calls you to. If this sounds like your dream come true, take the next step and call us or fill out The Journey.
